COMMISSIONS:

 

If you are looking for a handmade and unique gift to give to someone special in your life, consider commissioning a 100% hand drawn portrait. Perfect for special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, memorials, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Hanukkah, and weddings. Or any other special occasion for YOU.

 

STEP 1

Submit a photo you love!

​

• Contact me by email to discuss details of the desired portrait.

• Please ensure images are clear - not blurry. I rely heavily on high-quality reference photos. Image size should be physically large or adequately high-resolution, otherwise important details may not be visible. Images with light and shadows yield more interesting portraits.

• No flash photography images. Natural light is best. Avoid overexposed images.

• Send photos by email. 

• Once photograph(s) are approved and size of the portrait determined, commission cost will be finalized.

STEP 2

​

• 50% non-refundable deposit is required in order to secure your commission in the waitlist queue and can be made in the form of an e-transfer, cash, PayPal, or Square. Once the down payment is received, I will begin the commission.*Shipping cost is additional.

STEP 3

​

• Portraits generally take 1-3 weeks to complete depending on complexity of piece and waitlist. Shipping time is additional. If commission is for a special occasion, please discuss dates with me to determine if timeframe is feasible. Plan accordingly. **Rush orders are subject to additional fees. Throughout the process, you will receive progress updates.

STEP 4

​

• The remaining balance of 50% (plus the additional shipping and handling costs) is due when the portrait has been approved. For local clients, final payment is due when the portrait is picked up/delivered.​

SHIPPING AND HANDLING​

​

*Shipping and handling is an additional cost and not part of portrait commission fee.

• Portraits are usually shipped via Canada Post. Alternatively, UPS, or Purolator may be used.

• Unframed portraits are flat packed – protected on both sides by strong cardboard to avoid damage.

• Framed artwork is bubble wrapped and boxed for shipment.​​

• Customs/duty/tariff tax charges may apply to international orders and are not included in commission or shipping fee. These costs are the responsibility of the customer.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Some of the pieces come with frame and mat, please double check before ordering. Cost of shipping will differ.

• Each custom portrait is hand signed and dated.

• Portraits are drawn with graphite / conté / pastel on acid free, archival paper (white or tan), or canvas.

• Fixative is used on portraits to protect them against discolouration and smearing. Handle artwork by its corners as some smudging may still occur.
