Sophia Losinski • Portraitist
Approximately forty-four million people worldwide live with Alzheimer's disease or a related form of dementia. Those statistics are alarming and heartbreaking.

Sophia and her family are deeply impacted by this disease - maternal grandmother, three aunts, and most recently, her mother's diagnosis of dementia.

Like most artists, Sophia taps into personal pain and her life's journeys as a source of healing, catharsis, and working through difficult emotions.

This Dementia Series - "Solitary Confinement" delves into what Sophia feels living with these diseases must be like - a kind of imprisonment; a separation from the self and those around. A loneliness and sadness conveyed through the eyes.
